The gates of Hell

The next stop, Hell's Gate! It got it's name because when Simon Fraser travelled by this part of the canyon, he said that it was like the gates of Hell. We took the air tram down (pictured behind us) across the gorge, down closer thee the rushing water. In 1914 there was a rock slide that blocked the channel which meant that the fish couldn't go upstream to spawn. After trying a few different ways to get the fish past the current the finally built fish ladders, and you could actually see the fish in the water from a tram.
We looked at the gift shop and I bought some gold for 10$ then went for ice cream! YUM! We then went to the suspension bridge which was swaying in the wind. The deck was also a grill and the could see the rushing water and the rapids, and with the bridge swaying, it was a little nerve warcking. It didn't help that I kept tripping over the metal. My favourite part was watching the fish trying to get into the fish ladder but getting to close to the edge and getting swept away by the current.
We took thee air tram back up then finally made out way to Sicamous, stopping in Kamloops for dinner at Wendy's.
